Position Overview
The Tax Accounting Manager is responsible for leading all tax functions for Creation Equity and its related entities, with a primary focus on federal and multistate partnership income tax compliance. This role serves as a strategic advisor on key business decisions, manages external CPA engagements for tax return preparation, and ensures accuracy and timeliness in all filings. The manager develops and implements tax strategies that align with company goals, oversees SOX compliance, and handles tax audits to mitigate financial risk. Additionally, the position includes full oversight of core accounting operations, including AP/AR, reconciliations, and financial reporting, as well as direct supervision and mentorship of staff accountants. Close collaboration with internal teams and external partners, including Limited Partners and Property Managers, is essential for success in this role.
Function of Position
Responsible for Creation Equity and related entities tax functions include:
- Lead the tax function with a focus on federal and multistate partnership income tax compliance.
- Serve as the initial tax advisor on critical business decisions and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Initial review of partnership financials for external CPA tax return preparation.
- Initial review of tax return preparation from outside accounting firms, provide corrections, and validate for accuracy meeting strict deadlines.
- Develop tax strategies that minimize tax liability in alignment with company goals and compliance requirements.
- Provide guidance on tax policies, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
- Manage tax audits to ensure favorable outcomes and minimal financial exposure.
- Identify, analyze, and execute tax planning opportunities to optimize the company's tax position.
- Assist with monthly tax planning and tax saving initiatives.
- Tracking inside and outside basis for all entities.
- Provide input into the development and improvement of tax planning processes.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, bank reconciliation, credit card reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliations, cash forecasting, monthly reporting, and full-service accounting.
- Oversight of staff performance and accuracy of the aforementioned accounting tasks and validating staff day-to-day accounting tasks are being fully completed and accurate..
- Actively involved with Limited Partners, Creation Analyst, and Property Managers responding to questions and providing necessary backup and meeting strict deadlines.
- Mentor staff accountants for growth and employee satisfaction and retention.
Required Attributes:
- Proactive, team player, positive attitude, and willing to go the extra mile.
- A minimum of 4 years partnership return preparation and review.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA and/or Master's in Tax preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge in federal and multistate tax compliance, tax planning, and audit defense.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word, QuickBooks, and Yardi experience preferred.
- Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

Evaluation
An annual review by peers and related company staff will be used as part of the evaluation. The above functions of the position will be used as a basis of the review. Evidence demonstrated of company values, functional assistance with the team in needed areas, client-rapport, and individual goals will also undergo evaluation.
