Job Responsibilities

The Substitute Teacher (on-call) is responsible for providing instruction when required for Creation Village World School classrooms. The substitute teacher utilizes the classroom instructional plans to create educational development with the philosophy and mission of IB at the center of student learning. 

• Provide a safe, nurturing, and respectful classroom environment aligned with the IB mission and CREATION Life values.
• Follow daily lesson plans and maintain classroom routines established by the teacher.
• Support student learning through engaging and age-appropriate activities.
• Encourage students to live out the IB Learner Profile and practice Approaches to Learning skills.
• Use RULER strategies to guide behavior and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Communicate expectations clearly with students and ensure consistency in learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues and staff to support student needs.
• Leave clear notes and feedback for the classroom teacher regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.

Implement the International Baccalaureate in instructional practice to include but not limited to:

• Read IB grade-specific documents in advance of teaching each unit.
• Become proficient in integrating ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Central Idea and Themes into instruction.
• Tracking and monitor student progress through Toddle to grade-specific standards by using the Learning Target Checklist.

Develop students in mind, body, and sprit:

• Integrate with Creation Village’s classroom management, instruction, and routines.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate room that creates a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the students.
• Observe, evaluate, document, and report each student's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health to the programme lead.

Requirements

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in the educational field

• Relevant teaching experience in Elementary School (3 years preferred)

• Past teaching experience in the IB

• Demonstrated record of reliability in previous employment

• Ability to adapt to new technology

• Flexibility in the classroom and with colleagues

Requirements

Physical constraints required include the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including the evacuation of the building during emergencies.
