Position Overview
Creating the Difference is looking for a motivated, personable, and sales-driven individual to join our Pro Shop team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with customers, building relationships, learning new products, and helping people find solutions that fit their individual needs.
Previous sales experience is required. Bowling or pro shop experience is a major plus, but it is not required. We are willing to train the right person on bowling equipment, products, fitting processes, and industry knowledge.
This is not a traditional Monday–Friday, 9–5 position. Our Pro Shops serve customers when they bowl, which means scheduling may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, leagues, tournaments, and special events. Applicants must have flexibility in their availability.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Customer Experience
- Engage customers and create a welcoming, knowledgeable shopping experience.
- Identify customer needs and recommend appropriate products, equipment, and services.
- Build relationships with new and returning customers.
- Confidently explain product features and benefits after completing company-provided training.
- Promote relevant products, services, specials, and promotions.
- Process purchases, returns, exchanges, and other transactions accurately.
- Provide excellent customer service before, during, and after a sale.
Pro Shop Operations
- Learn bowling equipment, terminology, products, fitting processes, and basic pro shop operations through hands-on training.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and professional retail environment.
- Restock merchandise and maintain attractive product displays.
- Assist with inventory counts, receiving merchandise, and monitoring stock levels.
- Maintain accurate customer and transaction records as required.
- Learn additional pro shop services and technical skills as training progresses.
- Work independently and responsibly when required.
Bowling Community & Events
- Build positive relationships with bowlers, leagues, bowling centers, and members of the local bowling community.
- Support sales and customer service during leagues, tournaments, demonstrations, and special events as needed.
- Represent Creating the Difference professionally both inside and outside the Pro Shop.
- Continue developing knowledge of bowling products, industry trends, and Creating the Difference products and services.
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous sales experience, preferably in retail, specialty sales, or another customer-facing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Comfortable approaching customers, starting conversations, identifying needs, and recommending products.
- Ability and willingness to learn a specialized product industry.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, point-of-sale systems, and other basic technology.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
Highly Preferred, But Not Required:
- Bowling industry knowledge or personal bowling experience.
- Previous sporting goods, specialty retail, or pro shop experience.
- Familiarity with bowling equipment and terminology.
- Existing relationships or involvement within the local bowling community.

Work Environment & Scheduling
This position requires a high degree of scheduling flexibility.
Pro Shop business is driven by when our customers bowl, and schedules may vary based on league seasons, tournaments, events, customer demand, and business needs. Hours may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Applicants looking exclusively for a traditional Monday–Friday, 9–5 schedule may not be a good fit for this position.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and handle bowling balls, merchandise, and boxes weighing approximately 30 pounds.
Creating the Difference will provide training to help the selected candidate develop the bowling-specific knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the position.
