CREATE Council on the Arts is the regional arts council serving Greene, Columbia, and Schoharie Counties. We support artists, strengthen cultural organizations, and connect communities through the arts. As we enter our 50th year, CREATE is evolving into a more agile, partnership-driven organization that brings creativity directly into communities through pop-ups, collaborations, and programs across the region.
The Community Engagement Coordinator for Membership Programs plays a key role in cultivating relationships, supporting CREATE’s network of artists and members, and coordinating programs and communications that strengthen community connections. This position combines relationship-building, event coordination, and strong administrative skills—ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, thinking creatively, and bringing ideas to life with clarity and care. You’ll work closely with the Executive Director to connect people, systems, and stories that reflect CREATE’s mission.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community & Partner Relationships (50%)
- Build and maintain relationships with artists, members, cultural organizations, local businesses, and community partners.
- Serve as a public-facing representative for CREATE events and attend community gatherings/meetings.
- Support the development of CREATE’s portfolio of partner spaces by helping to identify and cultivate relationships with existing businesses, cultural venues, and community organizations interested in hosting arts programming and artist opportunities in collaboration with CREATE.
- Coordinate a calendar of programs across these partner sites, ensuring consistent communication, scheduling, and logistical support.
- Plan, coordinate, and support CREATE’s community programs and events, including artist engagement activities, member meetups, and public gatherings such as:
- (1-3) Monthly community events that foster creative connection.
- Quarterly membership-focused events that strengthen relationships and highlight member work.
- (Ongoing) Satellite Programs that increase community engagement by connecting venues with highlighting
- Recruit and oversee seasonal or pop-up staff, interns, and volunteers for exhibitions and programs.
Membership Development & Support (30%)
- Manage CREATE’s membership program, including renewals, outreach, and member communications.
- Coordinate membership drives and special initiatives to grow engagement.
- Maintain accurate records in the membership database and CRM system.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and communications contractor to feature members and partners across digital platforms and publications.
Operations & Administration (20%)
- Support program logistics, scheduling, and communications follow-up.
- Help refine organizational systems to improve workflows and efficiency.
- Assist with reporting, documentation, and evaluation of community engagement activities.
- Coordinate with CREATE’s communications contractor to ensure that social media, press releases, newsletters, and public announcements are completed and shared in a timely and consistent manner.
- Update the website regularly to ensure that events, programs, and member opportunities are posted accurately and on schedule.
SKILLS PROFICIENCIES:
- Experience using CRM systems (such as Little Green Light or similar).
- Proficient in Canva for basic graphic design and content creation.
- Strong command of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Calendar, etc.).
- Excellent spreadsheet skills — comfortable organizing, tracking, and analyzing data.
- Familiarity with WordPress or other web content management systems.
- General comfort with digital tools, social media scheduling, and file organization systems.
SCHEDULE WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- This position is in-person with regular office hours during the week.
- Evening and weekend availability is required for events, programs, and community meetings.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for regional travel across Greene, Columbia, and Schoharie Counties.

COMPENSATION:
- Salary range: $40,000 - $45,000
