Overview
The Director of Safety Ambassador leads, develops, and oversees comprehensive safety, security, and community outreach programs, focusing on risk reduction, compliance (OSHA), and positive public interaction. They train personnel to act as visible, professional safety representatives while coordinating with law enforcement, managing emergency responses, and auditing safety policies.
The Director of Safety Ambassadors is a key leadership role within CRCD Enterprises, responsible for overseeing the operations of the Safety Ambassador programs. This position requires a collaborative approach to managing services contracted within the CRCD ecosystem as well as the Safety Ambassador contracts residing in both the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County. The Director will ensure compliance with regulations and service obligations while leading a team dedicated to creating safer communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Oversight: Manage the Safety Ambassador programs, ensuring all operational activities align with contractual obligations and organizational goals.
-Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement safety protocols, compliance standards, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Supervision and Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the Safety Ambassadors team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth. Train and manage Safety Ambassadors to maximize visibility, greet visitors, and provide a welcoming, secure environment.
- Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all city and county regulations, maintaining high standards for service delivery across various contracted areas.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with city officials, community organizations, and other stakeholders to advocate for contract initiatives and enhance community impact.
- Contract Evaluation: Implement and monitor contractual metrics, analyzing data to assess effectiveness and drive continuous improvement in services.
- Training and Development: Oversee training programs for Safety Ambassadors, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform effectively.
-Incident Response & Coordination: Act as a liaison with law enforcement (police/fire), security, and emergency services, managing incident reporting.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit reports to funders and stakeholders, documenting program activities, successes, and challenges.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in safety management, security, law enforcement, or community outreach. : 5–10 years of progressive safety management experience is the standard for director-level roles.
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Criminal Justice, or a related field is typically required along with relevant certifications.
- Certifications: Professional credentials such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or industry-specific training like OSHA 30-hour are highly preferred.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional crisis management, executive communication, and the ability to influence organizational culture.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of OSHA, state/local health, and safety regulations.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills for public engagement and de-escalation.
- Leadership: Ability to lead teams, deliver training, and make quick decisions under pressure.
Physical demands and work environment
This role often requires working in public spaces, commercial districts, or residential facilities, frequently involving on-site inspections, patrolling, and emergency response management.

Education/Experience:
