Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics, inspections, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other industrial machinery.
- Use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex systems such as hydraulics, transmissions, electrical components, air brakes, suspension, HVAC systems, and diesel engines.
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet operational needs.
- Conduct tire service, brake repairs, alignments, and wheel balancing to ensure safety standards are met.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs and preventative maintenance tasks performed on fleet vehicles and machinery.
- Assist in heavy lifting operations using appropriate equipment while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating repair findings clearly and offering solutions that maximize equipment uptime.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment or truck repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with expertise in diesel engine repair, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and vehicle maintenance.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting complex machinery.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication tools necessary for repairs.
- Experience working with OEM parts and understanding factory specifications for various brands such as Caterpillar or similar manufacturers.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operation including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and work in physically demanding environments while maintaining safety standards.
