Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow our logistics and transportation services within target markets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their supply chain needs and delivering tailored transportation management solutions.
- Manage account portfolios by providing exceptional customer service, resolving issues promptly, and identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling logistics services.
- Lead negotiations for freight contracts, pricing agreements, and carrier partnerships to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS), CRM software, EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and AS400 platforms to track shipments, update client records, and streamline communication.
- Coordinate with internal dispatching teams, carriers, 3PL providers (Third-Party Logistics), NVOCCs (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carriers), and freight forwarders to optimize transportation planning and execution.
- Conduct lead generation activities through inside sales efforts, cold calling, and leveraging data entry tools to identify new business opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with FDA regulations where applicable, maintaining high standards for safety and quality in logistics operations.
Experience
- Proven experience in B2B sales within the logistics or transportation industry, with a focus on freight forwarding or supply chain management.
- Strong understanding of transportation management systems (TMS), supply chain processes, and logistics sales strategies.
- Demonstrated ability in account management, negotiation, and developing long-term customer relationships.
- Familiarity with freight pricing models, contracts, dispatching procedures, and carrier sales operations.
- Experience working with 3PL providers, NVOCCs, or in transportation sales roles is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in CRM software applications such as Salesforce or similar platforms; experience with EDI systems and AS400 is a plus.
