Job Description


The VDC Regional Manager is an energetic, self-motivated individual who must possess the skills required to successfully execute project tasks, have a strong work ethic and be a dynamic team player. This person should also have a passion for VDC innovations and emerging technologies in the AEC industry and will perform VDC coordination functions for the team for all projects, as well as, coordinate with clients, subcontractors and sub-consultants on VDC standards. This role will work closely with design and construction leads on internal VDC strategies and standardization. Experience in Revit and AutoCAD with 3D modeling capabilities is a must, as well as the ability to work in other compatible design software packages. Projects will consist of both existing building renovations and new construction. Project sizes will vary and require documentation for various disciplines including but not limited to Architecture, Electrical, Fire Protection, HVAC, Piping (Mechanical, Process, and Plumbing) and Structural.

Responsibilities

  • Function as primary VDC liaison to the design and construction staff, communicating status, issues, remedies, and establishing design parameters based on company requirements
  • Formulate, communicate, execute and support new and existing strategic initiatives, including company-wide VDC implementation in support design and construction activities
  • Establish standard design and construction practices for VDC projects in order to share the information across relevant project teams
  • Understand and communicate the standard design and construction practices for VDC projects to help promote consistency in project deliverables as well as the methods for developing them
  • Implement VDC and company strategic innovation techniques on projects by integrating all phases of project delivery to the fullest extent possible, from concept design through construction
  • Work with design and pre-con project teams to prepare, execute, and finalize project deliverables (design models, drawings, specifications, lists, BOMs, etc.) that reflect accurately the standards for materials, equipment, and systems
  • Work with construction management to prepare VDC documentation (coordination plans, vendor equipment model workflows, etc.)
  • Develop project templates, maintain/manage content creation, and perform model audits
  • Help create VDC customization/library and help coordinate project collaboration resources for inter‐company communications
  • Manage the coordination process for all VDC design and construction projects
  • Maintain a healthy VDC infrastructure (i.e. Revit Server)
  • Collaborate with externally‐contracted engineering professionals, research associates, vendors and subcontractors to implement pre-established systems and develop design and construction productivity tools, as required
  • Promote the advancement of the firm’s VDC initiatives, e.g., help develop/coordinate training strategies and coach/support/evaluate colleagues in all offices
  • Manage and mentor VDC Coordinator staff during one on one and group meetings
  • Document and apprise Technology Director and other VDC Regional Managers of progress, issues and/or problems on a regular and proactive basis, while assisting in recommending and implementing improvements in existing design and construction applications across the firm
  • Interface with and present information to Management, IT staff and other internal staff on a regular basis
  • Research and stay informed on VDC related software and technologies
  • Provide support to end users both in your region and other regions as needed (Helpdesk)
  • Participate in interviews of all potential VDC candidates and evaluate their knowledge base

Qualifications


Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Aided Design or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture; completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent
  • 6-10 years’ experience in an EPC firm setting
  • Proficiency in Revit is required
  • Experience with AutoCAD P&ID and the functions of AutoCAD platforms (AutoCAD Architecture & MEP) preferred but not required
  • Understanding of contractual delivery methods for design and construction projects
  • Understanding of industry standard VDC documentation (BEP, BIMForum, etc.)
  • Experience with 3D collaboration tools (Navisworks, BIM360 suite, Assemble) is preferred
  • Knowledge of supporting VDC tools (Revit add-ins, Dynamo, Bluebeam, AR/VR) is preferred
  • Industry VDC certification (Revit Certified Professional, CM-BIM, etc.) is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
