Duties
- Prepare and craft a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, adhering to traditional techniques and presentation standards
- Plan and develop sushi menus that align with restaurant themes and customer preferences
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations
- Handle all aspects of food preparation including slicing, rolling, and assembling sushi ingredients
- Manage inventory levels for sushi ingredients, ensuring freshness and proper storage
- Assist in kitchen operations during busy periods, supporting other culinary staff as needed
- Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all sushi dishes served to guests
- Uphold high standards of food handling, sanitation, and safety protocols at all times
Requirements
- Proven experience in sushi preparation and Japanese cuisine, with a strong portfolio demonstrating craftsmanship
- Background in fine dining or high-end restaurant environments preferred
- Knowledge of menu planning, food industry standards, and culinary techniques specific to sushi making
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food preparation and cooking methods
- Strong understanding of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures
- Experience with dietary department practices or dietary aide experience is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Culinary experience in the food service or catering industry preferred
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
