What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer position at Craze Inc.?
Craze is building the rails for brand-funded social competitions — turning marketing budgets into UGC, community participation, and high-intent actions (follows, signups, clicks, sales).
We’ve processed ~$30K in brand commitments, run active campaigns on a scrappy HTML Supabase MVP, and are now leveling up the engine: scalable challenge config, ranking/reputation systems, anti-fraud, and a full self-serve brand dashboard.
We're looking for an engineer who wants ownership from day one and loves building from zero.
Role OverviewWe’re hiring an Engineer to join the founding team — someone who will architect, build, and scale the core product.
This role is effectively our technical owner: you’ll drive system design, infrastructure, and product velocity alongside the founder, with a direct hand in shaping how competitions, verification, and ranking algorithms work.
If you like shipping fast, breaking problems down, and owning big decisions, this is for you.
What You’ll Do- Build and scale core platform features (competition engine, ranking algorithms, verification flows, fraud detection)
- Own frontend backend implementation (Supabase, Postgres, and future frameworks)
- Design and maintain reliable infrastructure, APIs, and data models
- Implement scalable content handling (photo/video uploads, moderation workflows)
- Work directly with the founder to define roadmap, architecture, and technical priorities
- Create the foundation for a future engineering team (best practices, tooling, documentation)
- Participate in customer conversations to understand pain points and shape product direction
- Rapidly prototype, test, and ship new features in a high-velocity environment
- Improve system performance, reliability, logging, and analytics
- Strong full-stack engineering background (you can own features end-to-end)
- Fluency in JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, and modern web frameworks
- Experience with Postgres, Supabase, or similar stacks
- Product-minded: you think in terms of user experience, not just code
- Strong architecture thinking and ability to make high-impact technical decisions
- Interest in ranking systems, reputation models, or recommendation engines (a plus)
- Experience scaling consumer or marketplace products (bonus)
- Scrappy, resourceful, and high-velocity builder — not an over-architect
- Comfortable working in ambiguity and carving structure from chaos
- Meaningful equity — true ownership, not token shares
- A direct hand in shaping a new social primitive, not just implementing tickets
- Ability to influence culture, architecture, and engineering direction from day one
- Early team status with long-term upside
- A chance to build something novel in social marketing infrastructure
- Exposure to brand partners, product strategy, and scaling a tech company from scratch
Someone who wants to build something big.
Someone who wants ownership.
Someone who loves shipping, learning, and solving hard problems.
Someone who sees the opportunity in creating a new category of social interaction — and wants their fingerprints all over it.
