Crawford, Murphy & Tilly is seeking a Government Affairs and Funding Coordinator to join their Business Development team in the Chicago, IL; Indianapolis, IN; St. Louis, MO; or Davenport, IA office. This is not a remote position.

- Water Resources

As Government Affairs and Funding Coordinator, you will track day-to-day developments on major policies impacting a wide range of infrastructure programs. You will support funding and financing efforts ranging from Main Street improvements to billion-dollar water systems. Under the mentorship of our team, you will continue to hone your writing skills for different audiences and develop expertise in different areas of infrastructure policy and politics.
What you will do:
With support, coaching, and direction from CMT’s Government Affairs Manager and technical leaders, you will serve the firm in the following capacities:
- Tracking and analyzing legislation and regulations at the state and federal levels.
- Following infrastructure and economic development funding programs across several states.
- Summarizing and communicating policy changes and trends to CMT staff and clients.
- Contributing to grant applications for priority projects across CMT’s aviation, building and sites, surface transportation, and water resources practices.
- Engaging with decisionmakers and industry peers regarding infrastructure funding programs and issues facing the engineering industry.
- Maintaining databases of federal, state, and local elected officials and candidates.
Here is what you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in political science, communications, urban planning, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Previous work or internship experience in government affairs, planning, campaigns/organizing, or development preferred.
- Strong knowledge of public policy, politics, and American government.
- Interest in improving our nation’s infrastructure, including aviation, water and wastewater, rail, and surface transportation.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to track many issues over time.

The expected compensation range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000 annually. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on numerous factors, including but not limited to individual education, qualifications, prior work experience, and geographic location.
