We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Library Director to lead our library operations, foster community engagement, and oversee the development of innovative programs. Education & Certifications: Minimum BLIS, preferred MLIS or related field. Level 1 ALA certification preferred, Level 3 minimum.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily library operations, including staff management, budgeting, and strategic planning
- Develop and implement policies to enhance library services and community outreach
- Oversee the acquisition, cataloging, and maintenance of collections using databases, metadata, and integrated library system (ILS) technologies
- Lead efforts in grant proposal writing to secure funding for new programs and resources
- Coordinate educational programs, workshops, and community events that promote literacy and lifelong learning
- Foster excellent customer service by engaging with patrons and addressing their needs effectively
- Conduct research to stay current with emerging trends in library science and information management
- Provide training and mentorship to staff members to support professional growth
- Collaborate with local organizations, schools, and government agencies to expand library services
Experience
- Proven leadership experience in a library setting or related organization
- Extensive knowledge of databases, metadata standards, and integrated library system (ILS) management
- Strong background in grant proposal writing and securing external funding
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated expertise in management, project management, and team supervision
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on community engagement
- Experience in research, teaching, or educational programming is preferred
- Effective writing skills for reports, proposals, and promotional materials
- Proficiency in cataloging standards and practices within a library environment
- Leadership qualities that inspire teamwork, innovation, and continuous improvement
