Job Summary
Materials Coordinator shall be responsible for managing inventory operations, material flow, warehouse coordination, and production support to ensure projects remain on schedule and materials are available when needed. This position works closely with Engineering, Procurement, Production, and Project Management to maintain inventory accuracy, optimize warehouse operations, coordinate large equipment shipments, and continuously improve inventory and material management processes.
This role requires strong organizational skills, technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and flexibility to respond to changing production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and supplies against purchase orders and packing slips
- Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP systems
· Coordinate Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and Kanban replenishment programs with suppliers
- Maintain inventory stock, consumables, and Kanban replenishment through coordination and orders to maintain minimum inventory requirements
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Organize and maintain storage areas, ensuring proper labeling, rotation (FIFO), and accessibility
- Pick, pack, and stage materials for production, shipping, or internal transfers
- Monitor stock levels and reorder points; flag shortages or overstock situations to purchasing/planning teams
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure material availability
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipping of part orders and machinery
- Track and report on inventory metrics (accuracy rates, turnover, shrinkage, aging stock)
- Process material returns, damaged goods, and obsolete inventory per company policy
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in material handling and storage
- Operate material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks) as needed
- Support audits and maintain documentation for traceability and compliance
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office platforms. (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and reconciling stock
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with inventory management utilizing ERP software
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environments
- Familiarity with lean inventory practices, cycle counting, and continuous improvement principles
- Strong communication skills for cross-departmental coordination
Work Environment
- Warehouse, and production floor setting
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and physical activity
- May require flexible shifts, including occasional overtime or weekend work

Starting Pay Range: $18.00-$23.00 per hour
