What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker/Shift Leader position at Crave Pie Studio?
Crave Pie Studio, a thriving artisan pie bakery, is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Shift Lead Baker. Your responsibilities will include baking dessert and savory pies from scratch following our recipes. You will also interact with other members of the baking team to direct their work to ensure product pars are met for the needs of the business. All team members are expected to be customer focused and able to pitch in to provide outstanding service to guests as needed. As a key holder, you will also be responsible for opening the shop and placing product in bakery cases each morning. You will be responsible for following food safety protocols and maintaining a sanitary work station.
To be successful in this role, you should be organized, able to multi task and manage your time. You should have strong leadership skills and be able to work in a team environment. You are expected to be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and to build and maintain professional relationships with coworkers.
Responsibilities
- Following recipes to produce various elements of dessert and savory pies, such as pastry creams, custards, fruit fillings and pie dough.
- Topping and garnishing various pies in an appealing manner and arranging in retail display area.
- Communicating with other team members and delegating tasks to ensure baking production goals are met.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment and work station to ensure sanitation standards are maintained.
- Tracking ingredients and supplies and communicating inventory needs to Bakery Manager as needed.
- Communicating with hospitality team about daily pie specials.
- Helping to provide direction to hospitality team members who will assist you with kitchen tasks when they are not serving guests.
- Willingness to work weekends and long hours leading up to holidays.
Skills
- Experience with scratch baking techniques, including following recipes and weighing and measuring ingredients with precision and accuracy.
- Familiarity and ability to use professional kitchen equipment, including convection ovens, mixers, food processors and pie press
- Understanding of and compliance with food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to interact with coworkers in a pleasant manner and maintain professional relationships.
- Interact with guests to deliver pleasant service when and if needed.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to problem solve and use sound judgement when handling simple day to day issues that may arise.
- Experience baking in a commercial kitchen preferred, but willing to train the right candidate who has a passion for scratch baking.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
