About the Position

Crave-It Nutrition is seeking a dependable, energetic, and professional School Lunch Server/Delivery Driver to support our lunch program at BASIS Pflugerville.

This employee will begin each workday at our kitchen located off Far West Boulevard in Austin. Responsibilities will include assisting with meal packaging, verifying that all food and supplies are accounted for, safely loading the prepared meals, and transporting them to BASIS Pflugerville.

Once onsite, the employee will unload and set up the lunch service area, serve meals to students, operate the point-of-sale system, and help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment. Depending on the daily schedule, the employee may also be responsible for returning equipment, insulated food carriers, or other supplies to the Far West Boulevard kitchen after service.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is comfortable driving daily, provides excellent customer service, and works well in a fast-paced team environment.

Compensation & Schedule

• Part-time position

• Monday through Friday

• Approximately 5–7 hours per day

• Typical schedule: 8:30 AM–1:30 PM

• Daytime schedule during school operating hours

• In-person position

• Schedule follows the school calendar and may vary on holidays, early-release days, or days when school is not in session

Key Responsibilities

Meal Pickup and Delivery

• Report to the Crave-It Nutrition kitchen off Far West Boulevard each morning

• Assist with packaging, organizing, and preparing meals for delivery

• Verify that all meals, beverages, snacks, serving supplies, and equipment are accounted for before departure

• Properly load food into the delivery vehicle to prevent spills, damage, or unsafe temperature changes

• Safely transport prepared meals from the Far West Boulevard kitchen to BASIS Pflugerville

• Arrive at the school on time and ready to begin lunch setup

• Unload meals, equipment, and supplies upon arrival

• Return food carriers, equipment, paperwork, or other supplies to the kitchen when required

• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle

Food Service and Student Interaction

• Set up the serving area before scheduled lunch periods

• Serve meals and snacks to students according to established procedures

• Maintain proper portion control while minimizing food waste

• Provide friendly and professional service to students and school staff

• Create a welcoming and positive dining experience

• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries within the school environment

Point-of-Sale Operations

• Operate a register and point-of-sale system for meals, snacks, beverages, desserts, and additional purchases

• Use an iPad, laptop, or other electronic devices to process transactions

• Accurately record purchases and complete student checkouts

• Communicate any account or transaction concerns to the appropriate manager

Food Safety and Cleanliness

• Follow all health department regulations and food-safety standards

• Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during transportation and service

• Properly hold, handle, and serve food to prevent food-borne illness

• Maintain the cleanliness of serving areas, workstations, and equipment

• Clean and organize the service area after lunch

• Assist with basic food preparation or packaging when needed

Team Support

• Follow instructions from the Site Manager and Crave-It Nutrition leadership

• Communicate promptly about shortages, delays, vehicle issues, or service concerns

• Help ensure smooth and efficient meal preparation, delivery, and service

• Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Support coworkers and assist with additional duties when needed

Transportation Requirements

• Reliable personal transportation is required

• Must possess a valid driver’s license

• Must maintain current vehicle registration and automobile insurance

• Must have a safe driving record

• Must be comfortable driving daily between the Far West Boulevard kitchen and BASIS Pflugerville

• Vehicle must have sufficient space to safely transport meals, food carriers, beverages, supplies, and equipment

• Must be willing to make occasional approved grocery store or Sam’s Club runs

• Mileage reimbursement may be provided for approved work-related travel

Essential Functions

• Safely drive and transport prepared school meals

• Load and unload food carriers, supplies, and equipment

• Assist with packaging and organizing meals

• Set up, serve, and clean up school lunch service

• Operate food-service equipment safely and effectively

• Use POS systems, tablets, and other technology confidently

• Stand and walk for extended periods during meal service

• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds when necessary

• Work independently while remaining in communication with the team

• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor

• Pass a criminal background check

Qualifications

Required

• Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and current automobile insurance

• Dependable attendance and punctuality

• Ability to safely transport food and supplies

• Basic understanding of food handling and serving procedures

• Ability to operate or learn a POS/register system

• Strong customer-service and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to follow directions and learn new procedures

• Positive attitude and willingness to be coached

• Ability to remain calm, accurate, and professional in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

• Previous delivery, food-service, restaurant, cafeteria, or school-nutrition experience

• Experience working with children or in a school environment

• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems

• Basic cooking or food-preparation experience

• Experience safely transporting prepared food

Appearance Requirements

Visible tattoos are permitted; however, they must be covered while working within the school environment.
