Overview
From fine art to industrial equipment, Craters & Freighters Seattle is a leading provider of specialty crating and moving services for high-value, sensitive, and oversized items. We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented leader to join our team. This hands-on Assistant foreman role involves building custom wood crates, loading and unloading trucks, machinery moves, and working at both commercial and residential job sites. It's a great fit for someone with experience in any of the following rigging, truck loading, or rough carpentry—especially if you enjoy problem-solving, working with tools, and leading part of a small, trusted team.
Duties
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including rare weekend work
- Block and brace cargo inside dry vans, containers, and straight trucks
- Assist with rigging and moving heavy/awkward items
- Build custom wooden crates and shipping containers (rough carpentry) using saws and other power/pneumatic tools.
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
- Drive non-CDL box trucks
- Collaborate with the team on complex, confidential projects
Skills
- Experience in one or more preferred- rigging, container and dry van loading/blocking/bracing, rough carpentry, crating, or moving
- Comfortable using hand and power/pneumatic tools as well as forklift experience/certification
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork mindset
- Ability to pass a background check (some projects are confidential/government)
