A day in the life as a Facilities Automation Technician I...
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyor systems, AutoStore ASRS, sortation systems, scales, and printer applicators.
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and AC/DC electrical motors, drives, belts, chains, guides, bearings, rollers, and pulleys.
Inspect, calibrate, and replace electrical components such as photo eyes, relays, proximity sensors, solenoids, motor starters, tachometers, and encoders.
Conduct routine maintenance on auxiliary facility equipment, including Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT), HVAC systems, air compressors and dryers, balers, and basic plumbing systems.
Diagnose low-voltage circuits and electronic components using multi-meters, infrared thermometers, job plans, and electrical schematics.
Log work orders in the asset management system via handheld devices, capturing accurate labor hours, downtime, root cause, resolution, and spare parts used.
Operate Powered Industrial Trucks and service vehicles within the interior, exterior yard, and between local facilities or stores to procure necessary parts and supplies.
Execute safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Arc Flash compliance while actively eliminating equipment hazards in accordance with company policy.
What you'll bring to the table...
Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills with the ability to work effectively under time constraints.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical blueprints, and technical service manuals.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills with a team-oriented approach to collaborating across operations, leadership, and outside vendors.
Basic PC proficiency and comfortable using mobile applications on handheld devices for work order tracking.

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical trade school or vocational training preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on mechanical and electrical maintenance experience in an industrial, fulfillment, or automated distribution environment.
Relevant technical certifications (e.g., LOTO, electrical safety, mechanical controls) preferred.
Ability to lift up to 49 lbs, work at significant heights on platforms and ladders, and stand/walk on concrete floors for up to 10–12 hours per shift.
