The Director of Global Trade Compliance provides strategic leadership for the company's global customs and trade compliance program. This role is responsible for setting and executing trade compliance strategies across our international logistics network, ensuring adherence to all international trade laws and regulations. Lead a team of trade compliance professionals and serve as a subject matter expert on all global trade regulations, including C-TPAT, HTS Classification, Duty Drawback including USMCA. The Director of Global Trade Compliance will focus on innovation, cross functional engagement, anticipating regulatory changes, mitigating risk, and driving a culture of compliance excellence throughout the organization. This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays This role is a People leader position

A Day in the Life of a Director of Global Trade Compliance...
- Develop and implement comprehensive global trade & compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with industry best practices
- Manage custom brokers' performance and ensure that all trade documentation, including classifications under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) are accurate and complete
- Measure performance and effectiveness of Trade Compliance Program
- Continuously monitor, interpret, and communicate changes in global trade regulations to internal stakeholders
- Conduct trade compliance audits, risk assessments, and self reviews
- Develop a robust report out process identifying gaps and action plans for mitigation
- Oversee company’s C-TPAT Security and Trade Compliance Program; ensuring necessary compliance framework and effective internal controls are in place to maintain certifications
- Oversee all drawback programs (US Duty Drawback and USMCA)
- Excellent reading and writing language skills (English)
- Experience managing and developing teams to perform with a high sense of urgency and ability to shift and prioritize work to meet key deadlines
- Track record of managing complex compliance programs
- Record management expertise; experience utilizing global trade automated solutions
- Detail oriented; demonstrated ability to explain complex compliance concepts to leadership
- Deep knowledge of U.S. and international trade regulations
- 10 years trade compliance experience, working for an importer or exporter preferably in the retail sector
- Demonstrated expertise with Harmonized Code System (HTS) & US Customs Classification
- Experience with carrier procurement and/or carrier management
- Compliance risk mitigation experience desired
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required
- Licensed US Customs Broker, preferred
Salary : $160,000 - $200,000
