What are the responsibilities and job description for the Personal Property Administration position at Craighead County Assessor's Office?
The Assessor’s Office is seeking applicants to fill a vacant role of Personal Property Administration. It is the responsibility of the Assessor’s Office to determine fair and equitable value for all property within the County. This includes Personal Property, Business Personal Property, and Real Property. Some examples of these property types include vehicles, boats, trailers, motorcycles, business inventory, business equipment, mobile homes, buildings, and land. This office operates under the administrative supervision of the Assessor.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist taxpayers with personal property assessments in a professional and courteous manner in person, or by phone, fax, or email/online.
- Data entry for new property, address changes, and other information as needed.
- Scan and index documentation as needed.
- Communicate and work with other offices to ensure accurate and equitable assessments are completed. This includes offices within Craighead County, offices at the State, Assessor’s Offices in other counties, among others.
- Understand and abide by all laws, rules, and regulations governing personal property assessments.
- Assist Business Personal Property Administration when needed.
- All other job duties as deemed necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily once training is completed. Education: Equivalent to four (4) years high school or GED.
Experience: Two (2) years of customer service experience is required.
Due to considerable public contact, an individual must possess good communication skills, human relations skills and decision-making skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with the public and co-workers. Computer skills, typing ability and general knowledge of office machines also required. All taxpayers and customers are to be treated equitably and courteously and will be provided with prompt and accurate information regarding assessments.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a standard office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and reach. It may also be required that the employee operate a motor vehicle on County time.
BENEFITS
Employment with Craighead County includes “core” health insurance for the employee with the option to “buy up” to include a spouse/dependents. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, vision benefits and flexible spending accounts but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits. Employees receive a $10,000 life insurance policy. The County uses APERS for its pension plan with the employee contributing a mandatory 5.75% and the County contributing 15.32%. Paid time off is accrued at .025 hours per hours paid for vacation and personal time. Vacation time can be taken after the 1st year of service. There are approximately 11 paid holidays per year.
