What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Manager, Human Resources & Training position at Craig Wire Products, LLC?
Senior Manager, Human Resources & Training
About Us
Craig Wire Products is North America’s quick-turn, short-run magnet wire manufacturer. From our two facilities in Douglasville, we draw, roll, anneal, enamel and cover shaped magnet wire used in motors, generators and transformers. We turn small orders around in days to a few weeks, versus the 6–8 week lead times typical of the large producers. That speed depends on a skilled, stable hourly workforce, and that’s where you come in.
The Role
This is a working leadership role. You’ll own CWP’s people function end to end, from operator staffing strategy, pay structure, retention, training and culture down to the day-to-day HR administration that keeps a plant running. It’s a fit for someone equally comfortable building an operator pay structure with the CEO, running new-hire safety training, and resolving a time-clock issue on second shift.
What You’ll Do
• Build our operator workforce. Forecast hourly staffing needs with operations leadership, close gaps on critical lines, manage staffing agency partners, and build recruiting pipelines through technical colleges, workforce programs and the community.
• Own hourly pay and retention. Lead hourly compensation decisions, design a skill-based pay and progression structure for operators, benchmark pay against the market, and use turnover and exit data to drive retention.
• Run training and development. Own onboarding, on-the-job training, OSHA/EHS safety training and our ISO 9001 training program. Develop supervisors and shift leads as people leaders.
• Shape the culture. Lead engagement and recognition programs, turn employee feedback into action, handle investigations and discipline fairly and consistently, and be accessible across every shift.
• Recruit and onboard. Run full-cycle recruiting for hourly and salaried roles, from sourcing through offer and onboarding.
• Manage payroll, HRIS and benefits. Ensure accurate biweekly payroll in Paylocity, administer the HRIS and time clock, and own the annual benefits renewal and open enrollment.
• Keep us compliant. Handle FMLA and leave, workers’ compensation and OSHA recordkeeping, the Drug-Free Workplace program, HR policies and records, and HR/training requirements in ISO audits.
• Partner with leadership. Report monthly HR metrics to the CEO and partner with Finance on labor budgeting and compensation planning.
What You Bring
• 7 years of progressive HR experience, including 3 years as the senior or sole HR leader at a manufacturing site or for a heavily hourly workforce
• A track record of recruiting and retaining hourly production workers in a tight labor market
• Experience with hourly compensation structures, ideally skill- or tier-based pay
• Experience developing and delivering training, including onboarding, OJT and OSHA-related safety training
• Working knowledge of federal and Georgia employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, ERISA, COBRA, workers’ comp)
• 3 years of hands-on payroll and HRIS experience (Paylocity preferred)
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with HR data
• Credibility on the plant floor and with the leadership team, and a roll-up-your-sleeves approach
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience
Nice to have: SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR; OSHA 10/30; ISO 9001 experience; bilingual English/Spanish.
Work Environment
Office and manufacturing plant environment, with regular time on the production floor around operating equipment, noise and heat. PPE is required on the floor. You must be able to walk the plant and stand for extended periods. Occasionally early, late or weekend hours are needed to support all shifts.
