Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Service Technician to join our team. The Field Lube/Service Technician is responsible for performing on-site routine maintenance and preventative service on construction equipment, trucks, and support vehicles. This position operates a service truck and travels to job sites to ensure all equipment is properly lubricated, inspected, and maintained to minimize downtime in the field and extend equipment life.
Responsibilities
- Travel to job sites to perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment
- Operate a service truck to fuel, grease, and service equipment in the field
- Identify and report mechanical issues to supervisors or mechanics
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, dump trucks, etc.)
- Change engine oil, hydraulic fluids, filters, and lubricants
- Grease all fittings and moving components on equipment
- Inspect equipment for wear, leaks, or damage and report issues to mechanics or supervisors
- Check fluid levels (engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, transmission, fuel)
- Replace filters (oil, air, fuel, hydraulic)
- Document all service activities thoroughly, including repairs performed, parts used, and time spent.
- Assist mechanics with minor repairs as needed
- Keep service truck, tools, and work areas clean and organized
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
Experience
- Self-motivated and able to work independently in the field
- Strong attention to detail and equipment care
- Ability to identify potential mechanical issues
- Good time management and reliability
- Good communication with operators and supervisors
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs and perform manual labor
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
Work Environment
- Primarily outdoor job sites (roadwork, dirt work, construction areas) and shop environments
- Frequent travel between job sites
- Exposure to dust, noise, and heavy equipment
- May require early mornings and overtime
