What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gallery Intern position at Craig Krull Gallery?
We’re looking for a highly curious intern to join us for the fall 2024 semester, learning and developing new skills while adding to the breadth and depth of a gallery that has become an integral part of the LA art community over the past 35 years.
A founding gallery at the Bergamot Station Arts Center, Craig Krull Gallery is recognized for California painting, drawing, sculpture and photography, with a focus on Chicanx art. We represent major LA artists such as Peter Alexander, Don Bachardy, Carlos Almaraz, Judithe Hernández, and Dora de Larios. In the ‘90s, Krull focused on conceptual and experimental photography, and featured now-iconic LA photographers like Julius Shulman and Julian Wasser. Today, the gallery represents innovative materials artists including Brittany Mojo, Pamela Smith Hudson, and Blue McRight, and bold, emerging artists such as Claudia V. Solórzano and Kelly Berg.
Our intern will work closely with the Gallery Director on archival and marketing projects while learning about all other aspects of gallery operations. This internship is for school credit only; to apply, you must be currently enrolled in an accredited graduate, undergraduate, or community college program.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assisting with general gallery inventory and a large-scale inventory project
- Managing the artist archives, including images, biographies, and exhibition information
- Conceptualizing and designing marketing and promotional materials for web, email, and social

- Computer proficiency and the ability to learn new programs as necessary
- Familiarity with spreadsheets (Excel and Google Sheets), Adobe Photoshop, and/or other design tools
- A natural drive for organization and desire to improve
- The ability to work collaboratively and follow instructions, with the confidence to take initiative when needed
The time commitment:
- The internship will be approximately 10 hours per week, in-person during gallery hours (Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 11 am to 5:30 pm)
- Internship hours and start dates are flexible and will be determined on an individual basis
