Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient procedures, ensuring all instruments and materials are sterilized and ready.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and medical imaging.
- Operate digital equipment such as 3D scanners and manage medical documentation within EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
- Take vital signs and monitor patient comfort throughout treatments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy standards.
- Support infection control practices using aseptic techniques and proper sterilization methods.
- Provide patient education on oral health, dental terminology, and post-treatment care instructions.
- Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate with the dental reception team to optimize clinic flow.
- Assist with pediatric dentistry procedures when necessary, demonstrating patience and understanding for young patients.
- Ensure the dental clinic environment adheres to safety standards and infection control protocols at all times.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Experience with dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Familiarity with dental terminology relevant to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures including four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Strong understanding of anatomy knowledge related to oral structures and medical terminology.
- Experience in infection control practices within a dental setting using aseptic techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, especially children in pediatric dentistry settings.
