Reefer Technician

Job Overview
Craftsmen Utility Trailer, a predominant leader in the transportation industry, is expanding and looking to add an experienced Reefer Technician to our growing team located in St. Charles, MO. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Reefer Technician to lead diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on transport refrigeration units. This role requires advanced technical expertise in diesel-powered and electric refrigeration systems, excellent troubleshooting ability, and a leadership mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

· Perform diagnostics and repairs on a wide range of transport refrigeration units (e.g., Thermo King, Carrier, Cargo Bull).

· Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis on refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical issues.

· Oversee and execute scheduled preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.

· Recharge refrigeration systems and handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA regulations.

· Ensure proper documentation of work performed, parts used, and repairs completed.

· Monitor and uphold safety, compliance, and environmental standards always.

· Coordinate with shop office to prioritize repair schedules and minimize service disruptions.

· Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and parts.

· Perform general trailer repairs when necessary.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in refrigeration strongly preferred. 5 years of hands-on experience with transport refrigeration systems.

· Extensive knowledge of reefer unit diagnostics, repair, and performance tuning.

· EPA 608 Universal Certification required.

· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

· Proficient in the use of diagnostic software and tools.

· Strong understanding of diesel engines, electrical systems, and refrigerant handling.

· Valid Class E driver’s license; CDL a plus.

· Excellent communication and leadership skills.

· Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

· OEM certifications from Thermo King, Carrier Transicold, or equivalent.·

· Welding/fabrication experience.

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
