What are the responsibilities and job description for the Combo Welder/Fitters - Barge Repair Facility - Port Allen & Vacherie position at Craftsmen Contractors LLC?
Craftsmen Contractors is looking to hire for Structural Welders/Fitters to work at a barge repair facility in the Vacherie and Port Allen areas. The ideal candidate must have experience (at least 3 years) as a Combo Welder/Fitter. This is a long term on-going position working full time day shift (6:30am - 4 or 5pm) Mondays through Fridays with some occasional weekends available. You will need to have experience with stick welding, mild steel, low hydrogen rods, and using an oxygen/propylene torch.
Pay rate is $18.50 to $23.25/hr. depending on experience.
No per diem is offered.
Weekly pay by direct deposit.
The pay rate will be determined on how you do on your Welding/Fitting test, job performance and job attendance.
- Have at least 3 years of Structural Welding/Fitting (preferably barge or shipbuilding) experience.
- Be able to use oxygen/propylene torch.
- Must have your own welding and fitting equipment including a welding whip.
- Previous experience welding on a barge in the water is preferred.
- Pass a Welding/Fitting test - stick welding, mild steel and low hydrogen rods.
- Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Do a face to face interview prior to being hired.
- Know how to read a tape measure.
- Some experience with torch cutting.
- Will need to have own hand tools and have all PPE.
