What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sculling Fleet Manager position at Craftsbury Outdoor Center?
The Sculling Fleet Manager is responsible for managing and assigning equipment related to the Sculling Camp Program at Craftsbury. As part of the full-time sculling staff, this individual must be able to assist in the coaching of camps, help maintain and assign a fleet of 60 boats and provide administrative support to the Director of Sculling to create an optimal learning environment for sculling. In the off-season, this position will assist with the administrative demands of the sculling program, manage regular communication with the COC sculling community and assist in the cultivation of a strong presence in the local community; teaching rowing on ergometers both at the center and in the surrounding area.
The summer camp season runs continuously from early May through the end of September. The off-season is significantly less structured, and the ability to work independently is a must.
Working with the sculling program at Craftsbury requires a broad range of hard and soft skills.
Applicants for this role must have:
- At least three years of coaching experience, specific to sculling.
- Curiosity about principles of excellent coaching and a desire to learn. Ability to work with a team of coaches, receive constructive feedback, show an interest in learning new techniques and enhance your professional skill set.
- Excellent communication skills. Comfort with public speaking, ability to explain complex ideas to an audience with diverse skill levels, comfort with email, Microsoft Office software and audio-visual technology.
- A personal drive to advance your career and transform newly learned skills and knowledge into practical experience. Possess a healthy blend of confidence in your abilities with a respectable humility to ask questions and seek guidance when needed.
- Strong Organizational Skills. Possess the ability to juggle multiple tasks at the same time with a solid understanding of prioritizing responsibilities.
- Understand the importance of providing a service and experience to our guests that inspires them to return year after year.
- Undergraduate College Degree is preferred.
