This is a hands-on opportunity to work closely with the owner and lead field execution on high-end residential projects where craftsmanship actually matters.
The Role (Position Summary)
We’re hiring a Lead Carpenter / Lead Hand to serve as a working lead on custom residential builds. You’ll be on the tools daily while also guiding the day-to-day flow of work—keeping the jobsite organized, supporting schedule, coordinating with subcontractors, and ensuring rough carpentry and finish carpentry are completed safely and to a high standard.
This is a great fit for an experienced residential carpenter who can run point in the field without stepping away from the craft.
Why You’ll Like This Role
- Join a respected custom home builder with steady work in the Shreveport market
- Work directly with the owner (visibility, mentorship, and clear communication)
- Lead the on-site craftsmanship—your work shows in the finished product
- Stable, full-time position with competitive salary for a true working lead
What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Perform and lead hands-on carpentry across framing, blocking, trim, and finish work on residential construction projects
- Act as the on-site lead for carpentry tasks: plan daily priorities, assign work, and keep productivity moving
- Read and interpret blueprints/plans and specifications, take accurate measurements, and execute details cleanly
- Complete and oversee scopes including rough framing, punch list items, trim/finish carpentry, and jobsite problem-solving
- Coordinate workflow with subcontractors and trades (drywall, paint, flooring, cabinets, electrical, plumbing) to reduce rework and delays
- Maintain jobsite organization, material staging, and basic inventory awareness to prevent downtime
- Support quality control by catching issues early, protecting finished work, and maintaining a clean, professional jobsite
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety, tool safety, and housekeeping standards
- Communicate progress, constraints, and field needs clearly to the owner/project leadership
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
- Proven experience as a Lead Carpenter, Lead Hand, or Residential Carpenter (custom homes strongly preferred)
- Strong knowledge of rough carpentry and finish carpentry (framing trim) with consistent quality standards
- Ability to lead a small crew: training, task assignment, accountability, and pace-setting
- Comfortable reading plans, laying out work, and executing with accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong jobsite judgment: proactive, solutions-oriented, quality-minded
- Reliable, professional communication and comfort working closely with ownership
What’s Offered
- Full-time employment
- Direct mentorship and support from the owner
- Consistent work on high-quality custom residential projects in Shreveport
- Culture built around craftsmanship, teamwork, and doing the job the right way
