Responsibilities: Equipment Mechanical / Welder-Fabricator

Location: Sheridan, Wyoming

Job Type: Full-Time | Day Shift | Competitive Pay, DOE

Craftco, a locally owned and operated metal fabrication and custom manufacturing company in Sheridan, WY, is looking for a mechanically inclined, hands-on problem solver to join our growing team.

This is a unique dual-role position for someone who enjoys variety, technical challenges, and working across multiple areas of a fabrication and machining environment. The ideal candidate would have strong mechanical repair skills, welding/fabrication experience, and the ability to support general shop operations when needed.

As Craftco continues to grow, we are investing in the people and capabilities needed to keep our equipment, customer work, and production moving forward. This role is a great fit for someone who likes solving real-world mechanical problems, learning new systems, and being a reliable resource for the team.

Job Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain CNC machines, including lathes and mills, as well as lasers, waterjets, forklifts, cranes, and other shop equipment
  • Assist with precision machine alignment, turret alignment, sensor alignment, and related mechanical adjustments
  • Perform maintenance and repair tasks including replacing or repairing wear components such as bearings, drawbars, belts, brakes, batteries, and other machine or equipment parts
  • Perform general preventative maintenance, inspections, and documentation as needed
  • Work with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems
  • Coordinate with outside service providers when needed while helping reduce unnecessary downtime

Customer Product Rebuilds & Technical Problem Solving

  • Support rebuild efforts on customer equipment, including full or partial tear-downs and rebuilds of Trebro Tracktors and similar machinery
  • Assist with rebuilds and repairs of customer-owned equipment and products
  • Work through incomplete information, older equipment, mixed hydraulic/electrical systems, and complex mechanical assemblies
  • Diagnose problems, identify missing or damaged components, organize and identify components, and communicate findings clearly
  • Repair or replace hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies as needed
  • Reassemble equipment to proper working condition while ensuring functionality and reliability
  • Help develop practical repair plans and support the team in completing rebuild work correctly and efficiently
  • Ability to work through complex systems with missing or worn components and communicate findings clearly is critical

Welding, Fabrication & Shop Support

  • Perform welding and fabrication work when maintenance demand allows
  • Support the prep shop, including saw operation, grinding, material handling, layout, drilling, and general fabrication preparation
  • Operate or assist with shop equipment such as bandsaws, press brakes, waterjets, and other fabrication equipment, depending on experience
  • Read and interpret drawings, measurements, and shop instructions
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
  • Work independently and as part of a team to meet production and repair needs

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting ability
  • Experience repairing equipment, vehicles, machinery, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment, or similar systems
  • CNC machine maintenance experience is highly preferred but not required for the right mechanically inclined candidate
  • Welding and fabrication experience preferred
  • Ability to work with hydraulics, bearings, belts, sensors, alignments, and general mechanical systems
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting experience is a plus
  • Ability to take on problems with limited information and work toward practical solutions
  • Strong attention to detail, especially when working on precision equipment
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
  • Team-oriented with clear communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and grow through hands-on work and training
  • Valid driver’s license required

Ideal Candidate

The best fit for this role is someone who enjoys variety and does not want to do the same task every day. This person takes pride in figuring things out, fixing equipment correctly, helping the team, and jumping in where needed.

We are looking for someone who is mechanically sharp, dependable, and excited by a role that may involve CNC machine maintenance one day, forklift repair the next, customer equipment rebuilds after that, and welding or fabrication support when the shop needs it.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience and skill level
  • Full-time, day-shift work
  • Opportunities for technical training and skill development
  • A growing company with increasing investment in equipment, people, and internal capabilities
  • A supportive team environment
  • Variety in daily work and exposure to machining, fabrication, welding, rebuilds, and equipment maintenance
  • Pride in working for a company that values quality, safety, craftsmanship, and problem solving
