Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is in proper working order using aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures such as cleanings, restorations, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and efficiency.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, while maintaining strict infection control standards.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by managing dental terminology, medical documentation, vital signs, and medical coding as needed for comprehensive patient care.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and answer their questions with clarity and professionalism.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and coordinating with the dental reception team to optimize workflow.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, anatomy knowledge, and dental terminology.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience assisting with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and other staff.
- Certification or training in dental assisting preferred; must be committed to ongoing professional development in areas like endodontics or prosthodontics.
