The Procurement Engineer is a critical bridge between engineering and procurement, ensuring materials, components, and systems meet all technical, quality, and cost requirements. This role is ideal for technically strong Mechanical or Electrical Engineers with a passion for supplier strategy, cost optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the technical sourcing strategy for electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems across major projects.
- Translate engineering requirements into clear supplier specifications by partnering closely with Quality, PM, and Manufacturing teams.
- Identify and select high-performing suppliers while balancing capability, cost, quality, and delivery.
- Drive cost-savings and value-engineering initiatives through strong analytical insight.
- Ensure compliance by interpreting complex drawings, BOMs, and technical specs.
- Lead supplier qualification and sourcing efforts for New Product Introduction from concept to launch.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, manage engineering changes, and maintain seamless supplier alignment.
- Negotiate technical and commercial terms to secure optimal pricing, lead times, and service levels.
- Oversee supplier performance and lead improvement or corrective action initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Finance (Master’s preferred).
- 2 years of experience within a manufacturing or engineering-centric organization.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical and/or mechanical systems; ability to interpret complex drawings/specifications.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, sourcing tools, and Microsoft Office.
