The Operations Manager is responsible for providing leadership for their manufacturing areas, managing/developing people, promoting and utilizing effective cost management, meeting environmental, health and safety responsibilities, maintaining positive community relations, meeting business commitments in an environment of continuous improvement, and operating in the safest, most cost-effective manner.
- Role model for safety expectations and zero incident culture. Ensure that employees understand and comply with all site and corporate HSES regulations and guidelines.
- Member of the site leadership team requiring strong cross functional working relationships to effectively set the site culture, be a role model for correct principles and behaviors, and to develop, communicate, and implement strategies to meet business goals.
- Provide leadership, managerial oversight and technical support to the production area.
- Work directly with and be responsible for the management of production supervisors, engineers, team leaders, coordinators, and operators
- Responsible for overall performance of the production departments; safety focus, production schedule, quality requirements, and budget while at the same time continuously improving the department’s capabilities and effectiveness.
- Identify and implement operational excellence principles within the production department.
- Identify & implement process improvement & cost optimization efforts.
- Identify and support capital project needs.
- Provide leadership for effectively resolving customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.
- Support development, communication, and execution of HSES, Maintenance, Quality, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
- Coordinate with business partners to develop, communicate and implement plans to meet short and long-term business needs.
- Coordinate with business partners for raw material supply and production planning.
- Participate in incident investigations and assist in development & initiation of corrective & preventive actions
- Participate in Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for new and existing processes
- Ensure compliance with the current ISO9001 standards
- Review applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on a regular frequency
- Interview, hire, promote production employees, including assisting with the onboarding process of new hires
- Provide and keep current training and certification of all employees in all production areas
