My client, a leading chemical manufacturing company based in the Northwest suburbs is currently seeking a Commodity Manager to join their dynamic team. This position will report to the Director or Strategic Sourcing and be the number 2 person in the sourcing department. Below is an overview of the position:
- Lead development and execution of strategic sourcing and procurement plans for direct raw materials, driving cost efficiency, supplier performance, and inventory optimization.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with quality, regulatory, and ethical sourcing standards.
- Oversee supply-demand balance, purchasing activities, and inventory performance, including cost tracking, aging materials, and ERP system accuracy.
- Partner cross-functionally (e.g., operations, quality, finance) to establish cost standards, improve processes, and support business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement through alternate sourcing strategies, supplier performance management, and procurement best practices.
- Ensure adherence to safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements (FDA, GFSI, etc.) while supporting company quality systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or certifications preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in strategic procurement role.
- Experience sourcing chemicals / raw materials for fragrances and flavors
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and ERP/MRP system expertise, with knowledge of regulatory and supply chain operations.
