JOB SUMMARY

The Preconstruction Engineer plays a key role in supporting the estimating and planning phases of commercial construction projects. This position assists with bid preparation, cost estimating, constructability reviews, and project coordination to ensure accurate and competitive proposals. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of construction systems and processes. Working closely with project teams, the Preconstruction Engineer helps deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions that align with client needs and company standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or 5 years of equivalent experience).
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and cost structures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and estimating or takeoff software.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Collaborative attitude and commitment to teamwork and client satisfaction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and analyze construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope and potential risks.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and bid proposals using estimating software.
• Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure complete and competitive coverage.
• Support constructability reviews, value engineering efforts, and preconstruction scheduling
• Collaborate with project teams and clients to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, and deliverables.
• Assist in project handoff to operations and maintain estimating data for future use.
