Job Summary:
The buyer will support material planning and purchasing functions for an OEM of industrial process machinery. Day to day activities include obtaining quotes, placing purchase orders, and following-up with vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily purchasing activity; maintain inventory and job specific needs
- Create and issue Purchase Orders
- Participate in supplier sourcing and development
- Participate and/or facilitate contract negotiations
- Follow up with suppliers on pricing, delivery, terms, and invoicing issues as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP Business One is preferred), Excel, Word
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors
- Self-starter with a developed sense of urgency and diligence
Requirements:
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience desired
- U.S. citizen or valid/current work visa
- Prior purchasing or planning experienced preferred
- Able to work in an office environment but also deal with manufacturing personnel
