Job Description
The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing skilled maintenance, repair, and technical support services across CPCD-owned and operated facilities, including administrative buildings, classrooms, playgrounds, and support areas. This position performs advanced troubleshooting and repair of building systems; coordinates and oversees contracted services; and supports compliance with all applicable health, safety, and licensing requirements.
Pay Scale
$2,096.66/ per pay period (Bi-weekly)

- Paid Holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Juneteenth, Presidents Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day
- Paid Breaks include 1-week for Spring Break (March), 1-week for Fall Break (November), and 2- weeks for Winter Break (end of December/beginning of January).

Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or skilled trades, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building systems
- Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose building system issues and complete repairs within scope of training and licensure
- Experience coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating contractor and vendor services
- Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks based on health, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational impact
- Ability to lift and carry 50–100 pounds
- Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate CPCD vehicles
- Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination, TB assessment, drug screening (including marijuana), and background check in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and Child Care Licensing requirements
- Trade certification or formal technical training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, or general contracting
- Experience working within Head Start, school district, or licensed childcare environments
- Knowledge of fire/life safety systems, inspections, and corrective action processes
