Position Summary
The Mental Health Clinician I provides comprehensive clinical services to kids in the community and in offices that have MH and SU issues. Responsibilities include conducting individual and family sessions, facilitating therapeutic groups, coordinating care with prescribers and case managers, and participating in treatment team meetings.
The MH clinician I integrates evidence-based practices-including CBT, DBT-informed approaches, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention-to address emotional regulation, substance use, and behavioral challenges.
Location: Red Bank, NJ
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work, Counseling, or related behavioral health field.
- Active NJ LSW or LAC license.
- Active NJ Drivers License. This position requires driving.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents with significant emotional, behavioral, or substance use challenges.
- Demonstrated expertise in group facilitation and crisis prevention/management.
- Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills.
- Some evening work is required.
- Flexible, compassionate, and able to “meet people where they are.”
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy for kids in the program.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Facilitate dynamic group therapy sessions focusing on coping skills, emotional regulation, relapse prevention, and communication.
- Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and crisis staff to ensure coordinated, integrated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency and state standards.
- Utilize trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches in all interactions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, supervision, and staff meetings.
- Respond to and manage crises using de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
- Engage families in the treatment process and provide psychoeducation and support.
