Staff Auditor/Tax Accountant

What We Are Seeking:
The Auditor will be primarily responsible for assisting in performing local government audits, CIRA audits, and other attest work, performing detailed testing, evaluating internal controls, preparing audit workpapers, financial statements, and annual DCED reports. Other responsibilities may include assisting with income tax preparation and bookkeeping. This role is ideal for an individual looking to broaden their experience across both audit and tax fields within a supportive CPA firm environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform audit engagements for a variety of clients in compliance with GAAP, GASB, FASB, GAAS, and/or other applicable professional standards
· Plan and execute audit engagements under supervision of senior staff or managers
· Financial statement analysis and identifying accounting and audit issues
· Prepare concise and organized working papers and audit documentation
· Evaluate internal controls and make recommendations for improvement
· Assist in preparing individual and business income tax returns
· Communicate effectively with clients and team members
· Stay current with audit and tax regulations and professional standards
· Limited travel is required for audit fieldwork
Qualifications and Requirements:
· Minimum 2 years of audit experience in a public accounting or CPA firm environment
· Strong understanding of GAAP, GASB, FASB, GAAS, and financial reporting
· Experience with bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
· Experience with income tax preparation (individual and business returns)
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
· Proficiency with CCH Prosystems and/or Lacerte preferred
· Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements and deadlines
· Demonstrates ability to manage client relationships and deliver excellent service
