About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated professional to support our operations including the IRS‑sponsored tax assistance programs (TCE, LITC, VITA). The hired candidate will conduct visits to organizations such as senior centers and libraries, collect intake information from individuals, and ensure all documentation is properly organized and delivered to our accountants for tax processing. This role is ideal for someone detail‑oriented, community‑focused, and comfortable working directly with the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Community Outreach: Visit designated organizations such as senior centers and libraries to meet with individuals seeking tax assistance.
- Intake Collection: Gather required intake forms, identification, and supporting documents from participants.
- Documentation Management: Review collected information for completeness and accuracy before submission.
- Coordination with Accountants: Deliver intake packages to accountants for tax return preparation and processing.
- Program Support: Assist with the smooth operation of TCE, LITC, and VITA programs.
- Client Assistance: Provide basic guidance to individuals on required documentation and program eligibility.
- Client Management: Maintain ongoing relationships with new and existing tax and bookkeeping clients, ensuring their information is updated, questions are addressed, and service needs are coordinated.
- Record Keeping: Maintain logs of visits, collected forms, and submissions to ensure accountability.
- Compliance: Ensure intake procedures follow IRS program guidelines and confidentiality standards.
- Reporting: Provide weekly updates on outreach activities, number of intakes collected, and any issues encountered.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to interact professionally with seniors and diverse community members.
- Detail‑oriented with strong record‑keeping abilities.
- Familiarity with IRS programs (TCE, LITC, VITA) is a plus.
- Must be able to travel locally within Long Island to designated sites.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
