This individual manages project teams, oversees budgets and schedules, develops client relationships, and ensures projects are completed safely, profitably, and in accordance with contract requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Manage projects from award through closeout.
- Lead project teams consisting of Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Establish project objectives, execution plans, and performance expectations.
- Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
- Monitor project costs, productivity, and profitability.
- Review and approve purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and invoices.
- Prepare and present monthly project status reports.
- Review contract documents and identify risks.
- Manage change orders, claims, and contract modifications.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, and materials.
- Identify and mitigate schedule impacts and project risks.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Foster collaboration between office and field teams.
- Support employee growth and succession planning efforts.
- Promote a culture of safety throughout all project activities.
- Ensure adherence to company quality standards and project specifications.
- Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation when necessary.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
- 5-10 years of heavy civil construction experience preferred.
- Proven experience managing public and private infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of DOT work, utility construction, earthwork, site development, or transportation projects.
- Experience managing project budgets.
- Proficiency with construction management and scheduling software.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
