Position Description:
The Rehabilitation Counselor (RC) plays a vital role in promoting the overall well-being and positive self-esteem of residents in a supportive home environment. This is achieved through consistent, respectful, and encouraging interactions that uphold and honor each individual’s rights.
The RC assists in the daily routines of the residence, providing direct support in areas such as personal care, medication administration, behavioral interventions, and transportation. This position requires compassion, patience, and a commitment to empowering individuals with developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Including but not limited to:
- Promote a positive and respectful home atmosphere for all residents.
- Support residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including grooming, hygiene, and mobility.
- Prepare and assist with meals according to dietary guidelines.
- Assist with lifting and transferring individuals as needed.
- Administer medications and document per agency protocols.
- Transport individuals to medical appointments or community activities.
- Implement behavioral support strategies as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required documentation.
- Collaborate with other staff and professionals to ensure high-quality care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) is required.
- The degree must be in one of the following fields:
- Education
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Social Work
