Production Supervisor - Composite Cylinders (4pm-12am)

Summary/Objective

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and optimizing shop operations within a manufacturing and assembly environment. This role involves planning and assigning work, implementing company policies, and driving process improvements to enhance production efficiency and quality.

Essential Functions

• Manages shift performance metrics, including visual controls, and provides regular progress reports to management.
• Collaborates closely with the Composites Manager to align production activities with departmental goals.
• Provides leadership and guidance to the production team.
• Maintains hands-on involvement in the manufacturing process while monitoring overall production performance.
• Effectively supervises employees in a unionized environment, managing work rules and grievances.
• Demonstrates expertise in following work orders as products progress through the manufacturing process.
• Conducts thorough investigations of workplace accidents.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Oversees a team of 8 employees, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
• Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of new employees.
• Develops and manages employee schedules and work assignments.
• Conducts performance evaluations for new employees during their probationary period.
• Handles employee disciplinary actions and terminations in collaboration with Human Resources

Required Qualifications:

• Manufacturing experience
• Supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting
• Strong communication skills

Preferred:

• Experience programming and operating CNC machines
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
• Ability to work in an ISO 9001 certified environment
