What are the responsibilities and job description for the Class A Driver - Temporary Assignment position at CP Flexible Packaging?
Job Summary:
The primary job responsibilities of the position are to Drive company owned, leased or rental tractors, straight trucks and/or other vehicles to move products to and from intercompany buildings and customer or vendor sites. This hands-on role will be expected to work with other departments and operations to positively impact accuracy, timeliness, and up time.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
- Coordinates the delivery of materials to other departments, buildings, customer and vendors.
- Maintains all Company equipment to ensure safe, efficient and trouble-free condition
- Maintains and implements SOP’s, job instructions and training that is related to the inventory and material handling department.
- Responds to the various departments within the organization who may need information regarding deliveries, shipments receipts etc.
- Safe loading/ unloading, movement and storage of raw, WIP and finished materials.
- Ability to operate dock handling equipment (stand -up lifts, sit down lifts, pallet jacks. etc)
- Ensures maintenance of vehicles, trailers and associated equipment is being performed and that all equipment is kept in safe operating condition.
- Promote and subscribe to 5S/Lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Complies with all general Company-wide standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and any job or department specific SOP’s.
- SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)
- Employee Health and Safety
- SQF (Safe Quality Food packager) and GMP (good manufacturing procedures) focused on eliminating contaminates in all packaging manufactured.
- SGP (Sustainable Green Printer) environmental regulatory procedures and SOP’s
- SOP’s may cover the areas of (but are not limited to)
- Must work within productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
- Special Projects & other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Must possess a valid CDL.
- Prior forklift experience required.
- Possess knowledge, understanding and compliance of all PA driving laws
- Knowledge and compliance of all DOT regulations
- Knowledge of warehousing and bar-coding systems is a plus
- Intermediate to Advanced Computer Skills is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package software is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail is essential.

Physical Demands:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of times. (consistently)
- Must be able to move and lift up to 40 lbs. (intermittently)
- Must be willing to work outside and in inclement weather (rain, heat, cold, snow, etc.)
- Must be willing to load/ unload material into and out of trailers/ trucks or other vehicles.
