JOB SUMMARY:

The Prep Cook/Cashier is responsible for the preparation of all baked, deep-fried, and cold pantry items, in addition to all breakfast items. Ensures that food quality and presentation meet store standards prior to serving customers and employees while maintaining a sanitary work environment in the kitchen. This position will also serve as a cashier when needed. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Coyote Valley Travel Market & Fuel policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision, and Value Statement of the Coyote Valley Travel Market & Fuel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Must comply with established approved policies, procedures, and accepted practices of a class (A) food operation.
• Responsible for the proper setup of the cooking area in preparation for the assigned shift menu requirements.
• Prepare daily shift items as denoted by prep lists, utilizing a par system.
• Ensure sanitary ware washing as business demands. Also responsible for kitchen cleanliness and weekly “deep-cleaning” procedures.
• Rotates stock in coolers and freezers. Assures proper sanitary handling and condition of all food.
• Assist with ensuring appropriate merchandise stock levels; merchandise adjacencies and presentations, signing, and assortment in all departments; ensure the selling floor is adequately stocked (when needed).
• Participate in the function of retail sales of fuel, smoke shop, food, beverage, and other retail merchandise when needed.

• Participates in the maintenance of supporting cash receipts documentation and accumulation of information for daily and monthly journal entries.
• Balances all money transactions and paperwork.
• Prepares shift deposit and paperwork.

• Performs all functions in accordance with established company policies, procedures, and controls.
• Ensures that food storage on the station is carried out in accordance with restaurant standards.
• Informs Store Manager of all supply needs and will thoroughly inventory supplies, food, and menu requirements daily.
• Must consistently demonstrate a high level of customer service to customers and employees, and represent the casino in a friendly and professional manner.
• Ensures all equipment is in working order, performing regular, frequent inspections.
• Maintain all food preparation areas in a thorough sanitary condition, assuring compliance with all health code standards.
• Must work well with Co-Workers/Supervisors/Managers.
• Must maintain a good attendance record.
• Must be available to work flexible schedules (day, swing, or grave shifts).
• Maintains professional behavior with positive representation of Coyote Valley while on and off the clock.
• Must maintain strict confidentiality during and after employment.May be asked to perform various duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 21 years of age.

• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Education/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques.
• Must acquire and maintain a Food Handler Certification.
• Prior experience in a kitchen environment preferred.

Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.

Reasoning Ability:

• Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers and employees

• Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The Employee is also required to be on his/her feet for long periods of time by carrying food orders from the restaurant to the tables throughout the Bingo Hall. The employee is also required to bend and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate loud. When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud. Must be able to work in an intense environment where a high degree of concentration is necessary to perform the required job duties.

• Must be able to be approved for and maintain a valid gaming license.
