JOB SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is primarily responsible for coordination of balance sheet account reconciliation process and ensuring the accuracy of financial statements. This position will also share in the responsibility of accounts payable and support for payroll processing. All functions will be performed within the guidelines of the Coyote Valley Casino (and related businesses) policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards and objectives, GASB and FASB technical standards, and in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Value Statement of Coyote Valley.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential functions may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. Incumbent(s) may or may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.
- Assists in daily and month-end closing journal entries to ensure accuracy and timeliness of information.
- Records and oversees the accuracy and completion of general ledger accounts, financial statements, and various reports.
- Reviews, analyzes and adjusts financial statements of departments in order to ensure their accuracy.
- Assists managers in the interpretation of department financial statements to ensure that adequate and accurate information is provided to promote understanding of the financial statements.
- Monitors Fixed Assets and corresponding depreciation level.
- Processes accounts payable and fills in as back-up when needed for payroll processing.
- Assists with purchasing and inventory control.
- Assists with daily revenue audits as needed.
- Maintains and logs contract/MOU files for the organization.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism and integrity with positive representation of Coyote Valley while on and off the clock.
- Adheres to a strict confidentiality standard.
- Maintains a good attendance record.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience:
1.Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or related field) and at least one year of experience; or Associates Degree in Accounting (or related field) and two years of experience; or five years of related accounting experience.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office (specifically Outlook, Excel, Word) and 10-key.
3. Familiar with various accounting programs and able to quickly learn new systems.

1.Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
2. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
Physical Demands:

The Employee is also regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and lift up to 20lbs.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. When on the casino floor, the noise levels increase to loud. Must be able to work in an intense environment where a high degree of concentration is necessary to perform the required job duties.
