Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Horizontal Directional Drill Operator, based in Beloit, WI. The Drill Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining horizontal directional drilling equipment to install utilities such as electrical, water, or telecommunications lines. Daily tasks include interpreting blueprints, planning drill paths, conducting pre- and post-drill inspections, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring jobs are completed accurately and safely, in compliance with company and safety standards. Collaboration with team members and adherence to project timelines are essential.
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge and experience in Horizontal Directional Drilling operations, including operating and maintaining drilling rigs and related equipment.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, utility maps, and locate systems to determine proper drill paths.
- Experience with troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical and hydraulic machinery.
- Commitment to safety protocols, as well as the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards on-site.
- Strong communication and team collaboration skills to coordinate effectively with crew members.
- Physical ability to perform duties that may include lifting heavy equipment, working in various weather conditions, and navigating challenging terrain.
- Ability and willingness to travel is required.
- A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly preferred but not required.
- Experience in underground utility construction or similar industries is a plus.
