Peer Support Specialist - BHT - Our Place Clubhouse
Clubhouse Generalist
SUMMARY:
The peer support specialist reports directly to the Program Manager and is primarily responsible for training and coaching clients in works skills, appropriate work habits and behaviors, positive socialization skills, activities of daily living and other similar recovery and rehabilitation related activities for individuals with mental illness. In coordination with fellow team members, this position is additionally responsible for the general milieu of the clubhouse and its associated units including management/oversight of the clubhouse thrift store.
DUTIES:
1. Under the immediate supervision of the Program Manager provides support and training to clubhouse members.
2. Assist with client intake/orientation process, making recommendations for acceptance into the program.
3. Accurately completes all required documentation for funding sources.
4. Understands and follows International Clubhouse Standards.
5. Encourages members to participate in all clubhouse activities.
6. Participates in assisting members develop personal goals revises those goals on a regular basis. Participates in supporting members to achieve their goals.
7. Provides case management, resource coordination, advocacy, referrals and ongoing follow-up to ensure treatment continuity.
8. Intervenes in crisis situations in order to avert potential danger.
9. Serves as a liaison between the clubhouse program and other community agencies.
10. Assessment to include reviewing work adaptive behaviors, transportation options, the member’s expressed willingness to work, and other relevant factors.
11. Assists in completion of clubhouse tasks as required.
12. Completes all other duties and requirements, including any assigned special projects, as directed by the Program Manager, in a timely manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Ability to work effectively on a multi-disciplinary team.
2. Skill in planning and organizing
3. Ability to work effectively with individuals with serious mental illness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
2. Minimum 2 years recent work experience in the mental health or related social services field
3. Valid Class 2 Arizona drivers license with a maximum of one accident or two minor tickets within the last three years.
4. Must be able to attain a State Clearance for Fingerprinting.
5. Able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time and complete physical tasks associated with retail sales and store management.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
