Job Description:
Essential Duties:
Perform preventive maintenance such as changing oil, greasing and replacing components on a scheduled basis. Troubleshoot/diagnose heavy equipment malfunctions and replace parts, repair and rebuild as necessary. Dismantle and reassemble equipment using hoists and hand tools. Read blueprints and follow service manuals and parts lists in setting up and performing repairs and rebuilds. Utilize work orders and requisitions for ordering parts and maintenance of equipment cost records. Advise when immediate shut-down of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when continued operation will have no harmful effect. Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures and state and federal environmental regulations.
Other Duties:
Operate the equipment to diagnose problems and test operate after repair. Operate light vehicles to travel throughout the mine site. Maintain shop area in a safe and clean manner. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess knowledge of diesel engines, cooling systems, undercarriage, electrical systems, hydraulic components, drive trains, brake and air conditioning systems, as well as welding, cutting, air arcing, grinding, and understanding metal properties. Must have an ability to read, understand and use electronic diagnostic tools, prints, and manuals.
Must possess a knowledge of mechanical maintenance such as engine transmission, drive train, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and air conditioning systems. Must possess a skill in diagnosing malfunctions. Must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. Must be willing to work shift work and be eager to accept responsibility and challenges.
Education, Training and Experience:
High school diploma/GED with vocational training or equivalent experience preferred.

- Lift up to 35 lb wheel chocks, from ground to 48" and carry up to 30'.
- Lift from floor to 75" shelves up to 35 lb sledge hammer, chain come along, shackles and tools, carry up to 150'.
- Lift up to 50 lb chains from ground to 64'.
- Push 20 lbs while sitting with both feet to operate pedals on lights trucks.
- Push up to 55 lbs with both feet to operate foot controls.
- Push/pull up to 60 lbs with both hands on wrenches and tools.
- Push/pull up to 70 lbs toolbox, tow rope at preferred height up to 20'.
- Grip up to 20 lbs with both hands to operate steering wheel.
- Grip up to 60 lbs with preferred hand to grip tools and equipment.
- Sit up to 4 hours operating machines.
- Walk up to 200' around equipment looking for pre-operation inspection.
- Stand/walk up to 50' on uneven or muddy ground from truck to machine.
- Bend, squat or kneel to ground level and reach overhead with both arms for maintenance or repairs.

- Crawl up to 20' on ground for maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain sustained elevated position with both hands for repairs.
- Reach up to 72" grab bar and climb up to 30" initial suspended step then up to 5, 12" to 16" steps/rungs to access machines. Climb up to 33 steps to top of wash bay.
