What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Transport Driver position at Coyne Oil & Propane?
Coyne Oil & Propane is looking to add a Seasonal Transport Driver to the team from November 2025 through April 2026.

This position will work out of the Mount Pleasant, MI office.
Essential Duties:
- Attach terminal or truck-stored hoses to pump propane into or out of the tanker.
- Follow all safety procedures when transporting hazardous materials.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure truck safety and compliance.
- Safely transport loads over designated routes, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Skillfully maneuver truck and trailer into loading/unloading areas, following signals from the loading crew.
- Obey driver HOS rules by effectively using e-log in the truck.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, using specialized equipment when necessary.
- Maintain accurate paperwork, including work orders, invoices, and bills of lading, and deliver documentation upon route completion.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with Dispatch, drivers, vendors, and customers.
- Collect and verify delivery instructions and routes, ensuring load-related documentation is accurate and complete.
- Safely transport HAZMAT loads, such as propane, diesel, gas, and lubricants, to storage plants across Michigan and surrounding areas.
- Use truck PTO to unload propane into storage tanks.
- Maintain proactive communication with the Transportation Supervisor (Dispatcher), drivers, and customers.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree
- CDL class A without restriction
- Acceptable MVR
- Minimum of 1 year driving experience
Preferred Requirements:
- Hazmat endorsement preferred but not required
- 2 years of tanker driving experience
Physical Requirements:
- Sedentary position while driving, stepping up into and stepping out of a tractor trailer.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed when loading or unloading fuel at the destination.
- Exposure to hazardous and flammable materials including but not limited to propane, diesel, and gas.
- Possess an up-to-date DOT physical or have the ability to acquire a DOT physical.
