Responsibilities
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks to transport freight across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts when necessary, ensuring proper handling of freight including freight with specialized requirements.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with all transportation regulations.
- Manage route driving with precision, adhering to schedules while navigating traffic laws and safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for each trip to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during routes.
- Assist in securing loads on flatbeds or other specialized trailers to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or truck driver with familiarity in driving different types of trucks such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the vehicle type operated; experience with manual transmission is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to load & unload freight safely and efficiently using equipment like forklifts or other tools when necessary.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards related to freight hauling and vehicle operation.
- Experience with route driving and managing delivery schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle various types of freight including hazardous materials (if certified) or specialized cargo such as refrigerated goods or heavy equipment.
