About the Role:

As a Cook at Highlands at Owasso, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, nutritious, and delicious meals to our residents and guests. Your primary focus will be on preparing and producing food items in accordance with established recipes, safety standards, and dietary requirements. You will collaborate closely with the kitchen team, including the Dietary Supervisor, to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal service. This role demands attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining cleanliness and organization. Ultimately, your efforts will contribute to an exceptional dining experience that supports the health and satisfaction of those we serve.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Proven experience in food preparation and cooking in a professional kitchen environment.
• Ability to read and speak English fluently to understand recipes, safety instructions, and communicate with team members.
• Demonstrated manual dexterity and physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks efficiently.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
• Capability to move objects and climb stairs as required in the kitchen setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working under the supervision of a Dietary Supervisor or in a similar culinary leadership role.
• Familiarity with dietary restrictions and special meal preparation.
• Previous experience in a senior living or healthcare food service environment is preferred, but not required.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a busy kitchen.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook a variety of meals following standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas in compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Assist the Dietary Supervisor in menu planning, inventory management, and food production processes.
• Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food items to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate meal preparation and service schedules.

Skills:

The required skills such as food preparation, manual dexterity, and food production are essential for efficiently preparing meals that meet quality and safety standards. Clear communication with the kitchen team and understanding of recipes and safety protocols.
